RCVCC Services
Crisis Intervention & Victim Assistance
Regional Crime Victim Crisis Center operates at 24-hour telephone crisis hotline.  In-
person assistance is available to provide information and support for victims and
survivors during the crisis of trauma related to crime.  We are available to accompany
victims at crime scenes, the Trauma Center, law enforcement agencies and courts.  Our
services include in-office counseling, assistance with Crime Victim's Compensation
forms, parole notification and protests.  RCVCC serves hundreds of crime victims each
year in Abilene and the surrounding area, including:

Assault (includes bullying of and by children)
Aggravated assault
Sexual assault
Child sexual assault
Robbery
Homicide victims' families and friends
Adults molested as children

RCVCC volunteer victim advocates are carefully screened.  Those accepted into the program receive 40 hours of intensive training in crisis intervention and victim assistance.
The WHO Program
WHO, or We Help Ourselves, is a comprehensive anti-victimization program designed to assist
children and teens in dealing with numerous types of potentially dangerous situations.  The program
teaches assessment options on an age-appropriate basis and provides information on community
resources.  WHO focuses on prevention of child abuse, child sexual assualt, bullying and other
problems.  RCVCC staff and certified volunteers present WHO programs to more than 6000 children,
pre-school through 12th grade, each year in Abilene and surrounding school districts.

Dating Violence Prevention
RCVCC partners with Abilene ISD to provide dating violence prevention education to Abilene High and
Cooper High.

Primary Prevention
RCVCC works to prevent violence in our communities.

Crime Prevention Programs
RCVCC provides Sexual Assault Awareness seminars and general Crime Prevention programs to
any group or organization free of charge.  Professional trainings are available to law enforcement
officers, social workers, medical personnel and prosecutors who are interested in crime victim
assistance education.
